HISTORY
E-Languages
The UIS e-Languages Program began in 2018 as a joint initiative among several UIS units to acquire a virtual language-learning platform. The platform selected was Altissia, which initially offered 7 languages.
Since 2019, socialization campaigns, database updates, and preparations for the platform migration have been carried out. In 2020, the program developed its own identity with a logo, expanded to 22 languages, launched a mobile app, introduced the Follow Up tracking tool, and conducted characterization processes in different units.
That same year, the first UIS–Altissia Digital Exchange was held to promote internationalization and language practice. In 2021, teachers were trained as coaches to use the Follow Up tool, two new languages were added (American English and Canadian French), reaching a total of 24 languages, and outreach campaigns were strengthened through contests, events, and a new landing page.
New digital exchanges in English and Portuguese are planned to continue encouraging language learning and intercultural exchange.
