Excellence
The Department of Physical Education and Sports is an academic unit attached to the Faculty of Human Sciences and its purpose is the development of educational and research practices and carries out scientific procedures for the accompaniment and analysis of physical activity, contributing to the best quality of life of the community.
To support its own work, the Department of Physical Education and Sports promotes the practice of physical, sports and recreational activities and extends its services to the university community and society.

Undergraduate subjects
In order to promote the importance of sports and physical activity in the comprehensive development of the university community, the Department of Physical Education and Sports offers 21 sports-related courses, physical culture groups, and 15 university sports teams. A wide variety of programs are available, allowing students to acquire new skills or enhance their existing ones through participation in the university’s sports teams.

ADVISORY AND
Consulting
- Organization and management of sports events (logistics).
- Design of educational programs in the field of physical education and sports, as well as physical and sports rehabilitation programs.
NON-FORMAL
Education
- Seminars and workshops with specialists in various sports disciplines.
- Diploma programs and theoretical-practical training in physical activity sciences, recreation, and sports.
PROMOTION OF
Sports
- Organization and management of recreational and sports activities for the university community.
- Intramural sports and recreational activities, as well as the participation of university sports teams in the departmental, regional, and national qualifying phases of ASCUN Deportes.
RENTAL OF
Sports Venues
The rental of sports venues is available free of charge for the university community. For individuals outside the university, sports venues can be rented by the hour, with each space having a specific cost.
To reserve any venue, it is necessary to complete and send the Sports Venue Loan Request Form via email to the Department of Physical Education and Sports (depdep@uis.edu.co) at least three (3) days in advance to verify availability. External individuals must also attach a list of participants who will access the sports areas.

Teams
The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Universidad Industrial de Santander offers the Sports Team Program under the guidance of professionals specialized in competitive sports. These experts plan, guide, and oversee the training process based on pedagogical and scientific principles.
This course is primarily practical, focusing on the student-athlete as a learner with the right to comprehensive development. It aligns with the university’s innovative pedagogical model, ensuring a holistic educational experience. Each year, athletes train to represent the university in ASCUN Deportes competitions at regional, national, and international levels.
This academic unit supports 15 sports teams, comprising over 450 athletes.
